So I went and got the $6 bowl from Walmart instead of the $20 1.77 gallon at petco. i didnt want to drive an hour to get a tank and a fish. i thought i was going to get the betta from earl may..but then i got there and saw their poor bettas. they were dirty and i didnt see one that i really really liked so i decided sunday i will try to go to petco or petsmart. they always have a really big selection of bettas. so idk if i will return this bowl thing or not. but i attached a pic of it. [ the net in there is from the flat marbles and i am thinking of using that to put over the top with a rubber band just in case the betta i get tries to jump]

1st off... i dont know what to put in it! okay the bowl is bigger than what it looks like in the pic i swear! haha. i put some of those flat marbles in there but i might get another lil sack of em. i read somewhere to not put fake plants in with bettas b/c it can mess up their fins so im not sure what i want to put in there. i dont want it to look so plain though!

2nd... I was wondering if this heater would work in a bowl

http://www.petco.com/Shop/petco_Product_Na...-997528#details

theres the link for it. im going to get a temp thingy to put on the side to see how cold the water stays and if it gets to cold i want to get a lil heater. but since its a bowl idk what to get..and what would work.

so theres some questions! thanks for reading all this. :)

tis a pretty bowl....there looks enough marbles in there....silk plants are ok if you feel them an they are soft they wont hurt the bettas. how warm is your house? not sure if you could get a heater to fit to be honest....if you clean the water regularly you wont need a filter :good: :good:

Yea, the bowl is really pretty. And there does look like theres plenty of marbles in there, if you add more the betta will have less room.
Cant wait for pics for when you get to add your betta!

Looks like enough marbles. I have that heater and it works great. It should work fine in there, just watch the temp, if it gets too warm, unplug the heater for a bit. I'd add some plants. Either silk or real. Oh, and a lid! Bettas jump!

I have 3 of those bowls I have real plants in mine with different amounts of gravel depending if the plants are actually planted. Your new betta will love his beautiful new home!!

when i kept live plants in with my (unfiltered) betta tanks, it was a pain to clean out and they caused alot of problems, just as a precaution. i don't think they'd root too well in the marbles, either.

lovely bowl, i like the net idea as a lid so you don't have to get something that's hard to find a place to keep it.

as it was said, silk plants work great. i've also used some soft plastic plants with no pokey edges if i didnt have any silk to give them something to hide behind until i got new plants (for the rescues) :good:

cant wait to see pics of your boy when you get him!

thanks everyone!! i will keep you updated when I go to the store on sun to get my new betta :good:

okay i posted a new topic in here with pics of my new betta. i used the net that came with the marbles and used a rubberband to put it around the top..it works well. i need to get a temp thing to put on the side. and then we will see how the temp goes. :good:
