Today my fire eel died, i had noticed a drop in appetite over the last few days and this morning its eyes had clouded over so i knew there wasnt long left and by the time i returned from work it had passed away. There was no sign of illness or enviromental problems so i believe it was just old age, it was at least 10 years old despite only being in my care for the last 16 months.

Anyway in life i could never capture the shear size of this fish on film so i took a couple of pictures of it against a tape before i disposed of the body, a bit morbid maybe but something to show potential keepers just how huge these fish can get.

I'm gonna miss this one :(
