Hi everyone

This is my tank that I've been running since the start of the new year. At the moment its only got a UGF but I got a hang on filter today to add to it. t's 148L or about 39 US gallons.

I also bought a background today - on one side it is blue and on the other its black - which colour do you think would look best? :) Or leaving it off?

Current fishy inhabitants - Flame Dwarf Gourami, 3x Platies, 2x Bronze Cories, with more fish to come soon.

Plants - I don't know a few of them so if anyone can help...the ones I've named might be wrong too!
L-R -
Ambulia
Hydrophila Polysperma
Amazon Sword
Unknown - the little spiny one in front
Water Sprite (really not sure about this one...)
Java Fern
Creeping Jenny

The quality of the image has been reduced so it would fit as an attachment :) Hopefully it's not too bad!

Thanks! Tell me what you think! :p

cute tank its so clean :good: I would change the gravel tho....like blk or brownish fine gravel or add some colorful plants like some red :good:

Thanks! :)

I liked the red plants but my LFS actually advised me against them (yes, believe it, advised AGAINST buying something!) because they're more just ornamental and tend to die in about 6 months or less. And being a relative newbie (I've gone from a goldfish bowl to this, NO plant experience) I figured I needed all the help I could get to keep these ones alive by picking ones that would last! Unless anyone has some hardy red plants to recommend? Wasn't planning to add much more plant-wise though.

Its been pretty good cleanliness wise, I had a few brown algae outbreaks being a new tank but it seems to have dropped right back, and its been easy to clean off the glass anyway.

I most definitely will NOT be changing the gravel anytime soon, its running on the UGF alone (until the HOB gets running and bacteria colonises it) - my entire biological filtration system is living in that gravel! Felt like it took forever to cycle, will not be messing that up in a hurry! :p Though the gravel usually looks a bit darker than it does in the photo - its got a lot of light reflecting off it in that shot I think. :)

But thanks for your thoughts cleekaFish, glad you like it. :)

ya its a gd idea to do it simple for a beginner , Dont go too crazy to soon...like me  I had an algae bloom that forced me to buy a new filter , a UV sterilizer and countless of fast growers

Very nice looking tank. It's simple enough, but very beautiful!!

Very Nice Tank..I Like It Alot...Could Do With A Few Colourful Fish And It Would Be Perfect :good:

Very nice tank. I agree with fishkies soem colorful fish will be gr8.

Wow, thanks very much! I was sure someone would tell me my tank was terrible and crap,

Yes, planning on bright fish! At the moment there's the very bright dwarf gourami you can see as the big red blur in the front, the platies I have are bright too but I think they were hiding (male keeps chasing ladies into the bottle!). I'm hoping to get maybe two more dwarf gouramis, an angel (though I was going to try to get a black one) maybe one more platy then a schooling fish, ideally cardinals but rummynoses if I can't get them. :)

Anyone know my unknown plants?

Also - blue or black background???? Thoughts?

Thanks! :D
