Here's my darlin'. I think it's a she because of the fat little tummy, but I have nothing to go by for comparison, so??? Anyway, I've had her for 4-5 months, she's about 3" long. They are actually called a "Poor Man's Discus" by some, due to the body shape. They get about the same size as Angels, and from what I waas told by others, should be kept single, in pairs, or in a group of 5 or more. A lot like Angels in temperment and everything else.

Thanks :D She is adorable and VERY friendly. Rushes to the front whenever I walk up to the tank, or by the tank, or NEAR the tank :kira:

I had a VERY hard time finding her here in San Diego. Hopefully you won't. I wouldn't give her up for anything, and would LOVE to find her a buddy

Wow!! :hyper: Thats one nice looking fish  I bet they dont have them in Canada  .Poor mans discus you say???How much did you pay for her?

Oh and Id like to nominate her for FOTM

Its a Festive cichlid (mesonauta festiva) or (cichlasoma festivum) sounds like greta fish in the book but ur pic looks nicer than the books pic...says the bars apppear according to mood lol :D  great fish!! :p

Thanks for the compliments and the nomination, guys. She's my little sweety

Angel Lover, I don't think I paid too much.....trying to remember......see the smoke yet? :p I think it was about $5. But I had looked for over a month, and have never seen them again. She was smaller then my Rams when I got her.

The_Budmaster, nope, not a Gourami :) Just kind of shaped like one.

aernympha, She changes color all the time. It's kind of freaky, look at the tank and she's "normal" with the dark lateral line, look back a second later, and she's got green vertical stripes??? Very interesting fish.

actually aer the bar thing is true for most and I can't say MOST ca/sa cichlids
