That's my journey so far, my next step is to turn this tank into a hightech planted tank with cories tetras and rams.

Post your own in pictures so we can see how everyone has come along

No pics, just wanted to say that last tank is beautiful! Simply gorgeous, well done!

Nice pictures. I love love love the new tank.

If I posted pictures of all 6 tanks I would be here forever and my tanks for the last 16 years so I will say I got my first tank age 6 a 1ft.. then when I was 10 I got a 2ft and was able to diagnose problems in community fish and do my own maintinence ect.. I have had fish for years but only last year started keeping Malawi's. this is my story of malawis.
This is when we decided on Malawi as a species tank.
newtanklight.jpg

I did some reading up and read that you need rocks for MUMBA as I used to call them
DSCF2262.jpg

NO idea what happened with the tank but i dont think it was cycled right and lost a couple of fish and the inhabitants got velvet so we added meth blue and the tank was like this for a while urrgh wow it was hard to get rid of
methblue2.jpg

The tank was moved downstairs and serenity lost her toy corner. we also added some brain coral to buffer the water.
TankApril.jpg

Added more rocks and fish.
DSCF2954.jpg

got new tank, a rio 300 moved old one back upstairs and added 80 lab fry from my 2ft, went from slate to small rocks
PA270067.jpg

realized there were too many small rocks so got some bigger ones and put a layer of small ones on the bottom and then the bigger ones and this is it now as you know

how is that tank 100g as its neither a rio 300 or a rio 400 its to small so what is it?

well here goes, ive only been fish keeping for nearlly 3 years so, not much to look at, here they are anyway.
started off with 1 female betta, in a 5gal tank.

betta.jpg

then moved on to a 20gal, with 1 pleco and 6 guppies and a dwarf gourami.

tank.jpg

change the look and has new inhabitants, which are a pair of egyptian mouth brooders, and 3 red clawed crabs.

DSC00805.jpg

DSC00914.jpg

then moved on to something bigger, 39gallons, with a 11inch pleco, and a few platies, 6 cories, 3 rams and 2 angelfish.

t8.jpg

a pic of my biggest fish ever, i haven't got him any more though, he was getting really big, the petshop took him off me, for £12, and they said that they will not sell it because hes so big, they would prefer to keep him

Plec1.jpg

same 39gallon tank, without my 11inch pleco  changed the look, and added 2 kribs, and 1 siamese algae eater.

DSC00972.jpg

and 1 pic of my pair of beautiful koi angels, you have to love em

ops did I not change it rofl. After the 55G we had a 100G for about a week but it was too big and we had no room so we sold it back and got a rio300.. I think its 380lts even though its apprx 300lts. Thanks aswell, ill change my sig

The juewl in the pic is not a rio 300 as a rio 300 is 5ft long and you can tell that isnt also it is 300ltrs well less infact once you have substrate rocks etc in. The tank in your pics looks like a rio 240.

The rio 300 is not 5ft long. your thinking of the 400 which we wouldnt able to fit in, the 100G was a 4.5ft long one and we needed the gap next to it and the sofa so we had to go for a 300. Look on the juwel website and please before you call someone a lier get your facts. And if you do the tank measurments it is 380lts empty. Again read all about the juwel aquariums as I dont think you know what you on about lol.

Just to help you find the website. http://www.juwel-aquarium.de/en/rio.htm?cat=7

Here is my first 40ltr tank

1sttank2.jpg

Then the filter broke and as the tank was a "all in one" I decided to replace it with this 50ltr tank.

This tank looks nothing like this any more it has changed quite alot over the years. Will try and post an updated pic. I have not been able to upgrade to a larger tank as I still live with the parents and have to have the tank in my room :(

Nice thread Sf.

My humble start:

What it ended as (before tearing down for SW):

First, I started out LOOOONG ago, with like, a 5 gallon that had danios and glowlites.... well, let's not go too into that. I was a newbie.

Then I got a 10 gallon. Tons and Tons of mistakes there. The final version was okay, pretty much what my 25 has now -1 german ram.
the 10 was never to heavily planted, less than 2 watts per gallon.
Brochisinthe10.jpg

here's about the best it looked...
10gallon.jpg

4x brochis spelndens and 5x glowlite tetras (never found the boy of the 6th....)

So then I got the 38. Relativly low lighting, less than 1 watt per gallon, yet stuff grew a bit.
Fulltankshot02.jpg

Then I tried different designs, such as slate and white hole rock and stuff.
Possiblebanner.jpg

But Now, I'm finally fairly pleased.
I added on a 96 watt light, and things finally began to grow like crazy.
FTSNNN.jpg

and here it is a few days ago, after some trimming.
futurefluvaltank.jpg

and Now, another adventure begining, my 25 gallon.
25ghigh.jpg

Oh, and on a final note... The guy who's survived it all... who's survived in a bug carrier, survived cycling countless times, survived Temperature shock....

The big Glowlite tetra.
