May I ask how much a nano tank costs to set up like live rock how much did you buy for what size tank As im very Interested in doing something like a nano tank if Im allowed....

No worries, In response to Ski Fletch yes I am about 15 min from the LFS and had the rock back underwater in about 1 hour from it being removed from the tank at the shop. The bag came with quite a bit of water in it though so the rock stayed very wet the entire time. I'm just nervous that maybe I did something wrong and may have kiled off all the bacteria or something. then I'd be looking at another 6 or more weeks before I cycled wouldn't I?

However, are there any special conditions that are necessary before a feather duster worm can survive? Will ammonia and nitrite hurt them? If so then I may have very well cycled because I have one that is absolutely thriving.

I spent about $175.00 all in all for the tank and heater, about $40 for the powerhead (came with a CO2 kit I used when the tank was freshwater planted) and about $100 so far for the live rock, sand, RO water, new buckets, and a new bag of salt! But I'm going to add more Tonga branch rock rubble to both the main tank and to one of the filter chambers in the back to create a refugium. That'll probably cost me another $20 or so, and then there's livestock which for good ones is quite expensive where I live!

I got a jbj 12 gallon nano cube, I'm not happy or unhappy with it. Seems to do the job just fine but I have seen others that I wish I had now.

Even if you did kill all the bacteria you'd still see ammonia as the dying organisms would decay and produce ammonia. The fact that you still see no ammonia/nitrite a week after adding the rock indicates that the tank is "cycled" for nitrogenous wastes. Large deacorative feather dusters are very picky about their water quality whereas small ones are really only concerned with good temp/pH. Small featherdusters grow everywhere in the ocean and can even be found in the "dead zones" where nutrient rich rivers meet the sea.

No there is a different maker that I have seen, I believe it is called the aquacube or aquapod or something like that. It just looks like it would fit with my livingroom decor more than the jbj. The lighting on the jbj is top notch though.

Well mine is still quite small but it is getting bigger everyday, very possible that it is one of the ones you have mentioned. I don't have an ammonia kit yet, just forgot to pick one up, I am just hypothesising that sinse I haven't seen a trace of nitrite that perhaps I'm cycled. Or maybe I've killed the live rock :sick: . I'm planning to go get a master test kit tomorrow and take a sample to the fish shop to get it tested! Then we'll see.

Yeah I've got them on the other computer and I have to go to work tonight, tomorrow's probably a no go but I'll work on it for thursday!

You dont need to get livestock in the tank right away if its cycled, by all accounts, up to a month or two without livestock should be fine

Well I know you'll all cringe but I have a young daughter who basically was raised by finding nemo so a percula is a must, after that I was thinking some small species of goby, whichever I get the most recomendations for on here and is the most interesting/colorful. As for cleanup crew, I don't really care as long as there is an emerald crab in there.

You can "feed" LR/bacteria in the LR with a food source by just adding a pinch of food every second day. This should also help feed the amphipods, bristleworms, and filterfeeders youll most likely have on/in your LR.
 
Well I added my last bit of LR (except for a possible refugium) last night. I bought some tonga branch rubble, it's fantastic stuff. Right off I found a brittle star on it. I got in a car crash so I have to visit the repair shops today so the pictures don't look like they'll happen. I'll work on it later
