Swordtail Fry

hello

Strange problem i saw 3 swordtail fry yesterday and now today i carnt see any i have some plans as u can see

where have they gone

??

I have 2 pecs 3 congos 2 femail swordtails and varios tetras e.g glowlight and neons ( i know the pecs will grow when they get a bit biger i will donate them to a new home) or get a biger / another tank :whistle:

hope nothing has eaten them

well saidily most fish will happily eat fry.

Congo's and glowlights all will catch and eat fry with ease.
Large neons will also eat them.

Aswel as other adult livebearers will happily eat their own babies.

what do i do to stop them beeing eaten

Sorry,

Yes plants do help, and you do have quite alot already.

You may get the odd one surive from what u have already.

If you would like more surive then you should try catching fry to put in the trap or trapping the female when i think she's close to giving birth (about every 4 weeks).

hi,
i would not chase a pregnant female around and put her in a trap,
ive done this twice, once with a platy and one time a guppy, both times they aborted,
try having some floating live plants in your main tank, the fry tend to be in this for cover, then you can scoop them up with a cup and into the waiting breeding net.

hello,
its worked for me on the two times ive wanted to save fry,
also you may fry hanging around the back of the breeder net if its in and waiting,
good luck with it.

IMO, it looks like you have plenty of hiding spaces already. Tank is gorgeous.

Are you sure they are not hiding in your plants and messing with your mind? :shifty:
