Hi All finally 5 mins to myself to sit and show you my tank, this has recently been cleaned up as I had a major GBA outbreak and it completely wiped my tank out of plants, im still worried it will come back but will attempt to keep a close eye on things.

Very nice, what's are the occupants?(sp?) I can see 3 discus and some rummynose tetras. I like how your tank looks very clean and full yet minimalist. What's the spikey ball sort of plant you have in there? It looks like a moss ball covered in erect moss.

Hi, it currently has 4 discus, 3 rummynose and 4 corrys (can't remember what type now).I will probably add some more corry's and say 3-4 more rummynose, discus can be a bit messy so don't want to put too much strain on the filters.

Nice looking tank, especially like the moss 'ball'. The discus are lovely too, I keep looking at that type when I visit LFS, such pretty markings.

Nice tank there.

Bear in mind that the spikey looking plant in the foreground looks like Acorus sp. and is semi-aquatic. Should last a few months at best.

I hope I'm wrong here but the black "stripes" appear to be stress bars.

I would say not, at least not on that specific kind of discus. The bar in that exact discus are always viewable if i'm not mistaken. Take a look at the other members who have that kind and they look kinda the same.

Well for a stressed fish it eats well and has been looking like that for about a year now they have all grown about 2", so i would say it's just the breed, from what I have learnt from discus if they are not happy they tend to sulk turn black and not eat, mine nearly rip my hand of at feeding time:), maybe a discus expert can put his advice in here, if it is stress markings I would like to rectify the problem ASAP.

My apologies if I have offended you in anyway. From your description the fish appear "non-stressed", and the markings sound like they're permanent. I'll stick to plants next time!

yea a friend of mine has discus similar to that and when they get stressed they turn all black, and all hide behind the filter...

No not offended me at all, forums like this are great for people to get advice a bit of chat an some fun, I have only been keeping my discus a year and all the advice is always welcome.

i have a 190 too, currently under 'renovation' getting ready for new substrate, lots of plants, and new fish...
i want it to look like that :)

must say i am impressed with the discuss, never imagined could keep them in a 190 - now i know different - the mrs will be impressed - she loves them, though i fear the water is too hard here - whats your water like?
