Well, what do you think? Can I make any improvements (apart from hiding the filter that is)?

O ok. looks great, not much to improve tho. mayby a big(er) piece of bogwood

Nice tank! Maybe add a red plant and replace the white stones with more natural ones.

Nice tank, really impressed with the healthy plants...

What are the specs, including ferts [if any] and lighting? I'm trying to grow all the plant species you have myself and am not having such good luck.

Thanks,

Paul.

Specs are

PH 7.6
Amonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 40
Standard Juwel lamp with bacofoil over reflector to increase light into tank. Light on 12-14hrs daily.
240 watts of room light (120w at 6ft 120w at 12ft), on from dusk till 23:00hrs.
Glass cleaned 3 times in 6 months but doesn't get dirty.
No plant ferts.
2nd filter is only to keep cycled till required, it hasn't altered growth or specs.
Room south facing with big window & half glass door.

Can't think of anything else that would affect growth.

Hope that helps you Paul.

To RadaR

Red plants? Not seen any at lfs. Do they grow tall? If so would fancy some for filter end.

Had cabomba at that end but the fish would either eat it (and leave bare stems :( ) or nibble it off just above the lead weight then eat it (and leave bare floating stems  )

Will take onboard comment regarding white stones. They weren't expensive & were the only ones I could find at the time. I put them in because the platty fry kept hiding right down in the gravel and thought these would give more space to swim in safety.

My favorite bit is the Juwel Rock background. I think it looks great but at £24.00p + silicon + p&p you have to be committed (or should be :fun: ).

I'm still on the lookout for one more piece of bogwood. Won't know what it looks like till I see it but I think it need to be tall and stick like (for filter end).

Thanks for the comments & constructive remarkes
Not sure what the tall plant on the left is called (long thin leaves off thin round firm stems) but have to keep cutting it down

Most of the Rotala species are red. Here here and here sell them. Red plants dont grow to all the same height. Tropica is a good place for plant info. :good:
Yes, the background is superb.

Looks great, if you are happy with it needs no improvement.

I just wanted to warn you about the filter, I forget the make but I had one, I binned it when one of the fish got killed by entering the intake, the spaces in the grill are too big. The fish was a fat full of eggs golden barb, much bigger than a neon or platy fry. She probably was looking for food greedy fish that she was, I don’t know how she squeezed in, when I found her she was practically dead and I had to finish her off. I was so angry I wrote to the company and got a pointless apology.

Lovely healthy looking plants and tank.

Hi, i really like your plants. There lovely and green!!! Hope they stay that way

They have been in quite a while, the one on the left need cutting back (again, last time I cut it back to half tank height) as it grows quick.

It's only cabomba that dies (well, gets killed by the fish) on me.

To Liam

I'm not 100% happy but can't think why not at the moment. I know the filter will be hidden by the plants at some point so not to worried about that. As RadaR said 'red plants & replace the white stones with more natural ones' is a good idea so I'm looking for suitable replacements & contemplating sand (Nick SW) but there's still something not quite right. It one of those things that you won't know what's wrong till you find what is right (if you know what I mean).

A BIG Thanks to all for the feedback.

Think your tank looks great!!! i'm really jealous!! My silver dollars eat all my plants. I have the plant that you have in your tank (2nd from the right, spiky ish leaves- seems to attach to everything) and am wondering what it is called.

Cheers and goodluck
