Okay I've looked and looked and looked over the websites to find a good one on curing driftwood and they all have diffrent ideas.

This is what I have it's a really neat peice of diftwood I picked up about 3 months ago out on a river hike. It was laying out on the bank and not decaying or anything in the process of drying out. So for the past three months I've let it soaked in water, let it soaked in rock salt, let it soaked baclk in water while removing half of the water everyday. Then left it out of the lawn in the rain and the sprinkler and the sun for abbout a month now. Is it going to eventually decay in my aquarium? It's not full fledged driftwood as in it's not been floating in and out of the water for years and years. It still sems slightly soft in some areas. If you need any more info abput it let me know. Also is it okay to boil it? It's got alot of tannins in it.

Thanks again

Blimey you've done alot to that wood! I guess it might root if its a soft wood like pine, but generally wood takes years to root, and more often than not breaks down due to insects and fungi eating it. If its in a tank those insects and fungi wont be present so I would have thought it'd be fine.

Well that's what I would think anyway!

PS - whens the wedding? ;)

oh the wedding that was er...... 21/2 years ago. somewhere around there. i'm the male of the relanship i always forget when our annerversery is. lol

thats good to know about the wood. it definantly ain't pine. I did boil it and it made it super soft so I was able to crave on it to give it some more bumps and "curves". Now it's sitting in the sun yet again. Then I'll soak it and huck it in there!

Thanks again!

Yeha we've been through the "rough" times for 2 and a half years but with this hobby who knows how long the hubby will stay with me.   I bet all you married (or significant other) can relate to me on that. Blasted expensive hobby.

Oh right! Could only make out the one ring, my bad, my bad! :)
