First Tank+goldfish 8)

These are just a few randomish piccies I guess. Just set up and in the process of doing a fishless cycle with my 8.5uk Gallon tank. Was thinking about and have been told that 5-7 Neons would be quite happy in here, also a few extra small size fish, though I am undecided on what would suit my tank. Also piccies of my old timer Goldfish, plodding around theyre tank 8)

Any suggestions and opinions would be good. would a betta be comfortable here? or would it be best to stick with something like honey gouramis?

A betta would be but 1 goldfish needs 20gallons and then another 10g for every other goldfish after that.

well, the goldfish arnt strictly mine. they were bought about 6 years ago for my boyfriends little brother, now he has hit his 'teens', he has lost interest. so these two have been in their (at a pure guess) 10gallon tank for 6 years. they have never been ill and they have always got on so tbh, im not going to move them into a new tank now. but thanks for letting me know for the future, i had no idea how much room they needed.

so would the 6-ish neons and a better be happy in the new set up?

Going to my lfs later to pick out some fish and have them on reserve (in a seperate tank to quarantine them) untill i have my tank cycled. this way i know they are fit and healthy before i get them home
