This is my 48x24x18 tank, On its 5th day of cycling...
I know its very empty at the moment but there`s bog wood soaking ready to go into the tank and i`m off to get my self some stone next weekend.

i plan to stock the tank with 3 Koi angels, 1 black angel, and hoprfully 2 red angels

aswell as one golden plec and 8 corydora pandas.

i may throw some more in there once i decide what i want i`ll no doubt have some shrimp and some crabs

hopefully hers some better pics...

They are looking sharp BigIan, post pics as soon as you have fish in there, Also, I think it could use a background, but don't know what type? It may also be fine without one :D

what a great tank

You might already know this (so pardon me if you do), but remember to give your amazon sword plants (the ones on the far right and left) some regular root tablets as they are very heavy root feeders. Also use some liquid plant fertilisers on a weekly basis for the other plants :)

i keep meaning to pick some ferts for the plants upbut i`m in no rush as all the plants seem to be thriving i`ve had to split the amazon sword into two bunches already hence the reson i have two now...

will all the plants be ok with fert sticks or do i need the liquid fert aswell???

I`m thinking of a plain black background, as this would bring out the colour of the fish alot more...

Plain black would look great  though tbh, that blue looks pretty good on the wall too. If you could just somehow tuck away the cables on the sides. Check out and see how that looks as another option.

Some plants feed though leaves, some through roots. You'll need liquid ferts for your other plants and might experience excess algae problems if you give them fert sticks. Just put root tabs (not those plastic stick with the stuff in them) under your swords.

I was thinking the black would help it stand out more from the rest of the room, and i cant really hide the pipes and cables much more as most of them are at full strech...

any advice on what brands of ferts to go for?

I've used "Hagen Plant Grow" or some of the Seachem range, but Interpet does one too that many people seem to use. It doesn't really matter unless you're going for a full-on heavily planted tank :)

righty oh...

I`m just worried that the ferts will produce huge amonts of alge and unwanted growth...

i`m going to leave it untill after the tank is cycled before i add any ferts so atleast then there more than a few snails to eat the alge ect..

And i`ve just completed production of my first cave.....

Its upside down at the moment i`m waiting for the silicone to cure first the the "shaggy" edges will be planted in the sand leaving a nice sandy bottomed cave....
