Nice composition Laura, very nice! You need to work on your focus though. Does your camera have a macro mode? This should help you a lot.

How do you photograph basil so still? Every time I go up to our cat she walks right up to me and start head-butting me ( with affection) as she always doeswould love a pic of her like that--need to start training her I think
Basil is special--he is deaf and can't hear me taking pictures. He really doesn't mind staying still. He doesn't move quickly and fluidly like other cats being as he has an equilibrium. So he sits still a lot.
Edit: Also, Basil isn't overly affectionate. He very seldom rubs on me. I still wub him though... =)

Love the lion fish picture! Would have liked a bit more Depth of Field, but it's still very very nice!

Indoors, no flash, didn't want to push the film so I did my best. But yeh I am pretty happy.
I found a Koala in a small tree at uni and there was something crawling out of its tummy.
