Cheers cant make my mind up. Its gonna be a heavily planted tank when im done. The link fot these backgrounds is in the DIY section under one of my posts. They cost about 40 quid for a 4ft piece. Bargain!

**THESE ARE 3D BACKGROUNDS - NOT FILM OR PRINTED**

heres the link... http://www.steinzeit-design.at/Kunstfelsen/Welcome.htm nice prices

I'm not sure what you are going for in the long run, but in my opinion, heavily planted tanks look best with a plain black background. Your eyes are drawn to the plants, not the background. That being said, a nice printed background is good in creating an effect in the tank, but doesn't make it look natural.

Out of the three, I like #2.

Forced to choose? #2. But I'd take black over any of them, personally.

who makes that background ?

the best 3d background i have ever seen is made buy back to nature but they cost big money and take up alot of tank space

I choose #1 since it looks the most simple and looks to take up the least amount of tank space.

i agree I personally prefer plain black backgrounds as well.I started with designs on both my tanks and switched to black. If I really had to choose Id go for no 2 :shifty:

ive got a plain black background, but each to their own.i'd go with number 1 or number 2

I liked #3: the craggy-rocky-reefy-background (wow say that 5 times fast).

Whatever you choose will look natural if you make your gravel and rocks (and whatever else you put in there to aquascape it) become an extention of the background--matching it. Kind of like the exihibits of stuffed animals in their habitats at a natural history museum.

I have a black one at the moment. I just want a change. I know everyone likes the plain black. I like it, but i wont appreciate it enough unless i change it, and appraise the new background thusly. So i guess, if i change (i like no#1) then i will wither like it alot and be very pleased OR not like it as much as the black, slap it on ebay and make the money back. That way i will be satisfied that black is the way to go. At the mo i need to try it just to satisfy myself.

Cheers . Keep on pollin......

I see some aquascaping potential with #3, can add some java moss to it and have it cling to the background. I will agree, however, that #1 will be better in the event of an algae bloom.

Now I have to go vote, but I think #3 will be my choice. I personally prefer black backgrounds, as I'm always afraid one of my fish will get stuck back there and die a horrible death.

Jyst want somethin natural george. Not too over the top, so i can still appreciate my fish. Like i say - i have a black one at the mo but i been thinkin about ettin a 3d so either way at least i tried it. im of the dont knock it till you tried it philosophy.

Want some java moss on bogwood, and gonna go for a 2 tier effect quitre heavily planted. Ill try a crude diagram tomorrow, but iv just come back from the pub at the mo and im not even gonna try now.

You can make #1 very easily

Take some tinfoil, crumple it... then lightly use brown spray paint.

Can't seem to find a pic I had of mine.... Will post when i find it
