My Rift Lake Setup

Are the rocks flush against the back of the tank, or is there room for the fish to swim back there?

There are a couple inches of clearance from the back to the rocks in most areas behind the rockwork.

Also I notice my Tropheus take advantage of the rocks considerably more than my mbuna. They are constantly weaving through the rocks, grazing, shaking, posturing, etc. Very cool animals.

Update: New camera, new pics of my tank inhabitants.

Your tank looks amazing. What type of rocks are they?

Oooooh, Ahhhhhh.

Oh my, what a marvelous tank you have. Honestly, thats the best cichlid tank i have ever seen. I'd gladly nominate that tank for tank of the month contest.

Thanks again, everyone.

Completely revamping my filtration in the next few weeks. I intend to replace all my canisters with a wet/dry trickle filter. Ozone will be injected and scrubbed via an ozone reaction chamber inside the sump. The sump will be plumbed to a 40g planted refugium, with dedicated grow lights, and return water from there into the aquarium. I'll post photos when it's done.

That tank is pretty swell.. What is the picture of the last fish he is really pretty awesome.. Also curious.. Your fish to eat the plants.. Africans tend to destroy them

The last fish on the list is Tropheus sp. black "Kiriza".

The plants you see are Anubias, and my cichlids pretty much leave them alone. The reason they are shredded is that a Siamese red crab living in my tank likes to dine on them. I can't catch the little bugger without removing a bunch of rocks. :S
