if someone had some zoas and they were successful with them to the extent that they are covering quite large area of LR would that impact on the rocks efficiency as a filter in the same way that excessive coraline would do
Good question. Since most of the critters, bacteria, etc. would prefer the dark vs. the light, and obviously the zoas prefer the light, they would basically only grow on the light part, while the filtering organisms would stay on the bottom of the rock, so my guess would be that it would effect the filtration capacity of the rock very little.
