i can't remember but zebras are ok to be mixed with brackish fish?? I was thinking about adding mollies to my new 55 gallon tank but already have my platys and zebras in it and i know for the sailfins I would need some salt and I think the zebras would be ok, just need to keep my corys in a different tank.

zebras? what zebras?
zebra plecos, zebra danios, zebra the landanimal?

no danios can not be kept in brackish water.
you can however keep mollies and danios in tropical freshwater together
but i wouldn't.

hmmm ok I'll think of other options then yeah...I like my danios especially now that I upgraded tanks it was sooo fun watching them hit the 55 gallon and just swimming like crazy since it's not fully planted and definitely not stocked yet. I really wanna do goodieds but they are a rare livebreeder at least where i am at....thanks as usual

As others have said, danios cannot be kept in brackish water.

If you need hard, alkaline water for livebearers, then the schooling fishes to investigate are things like (certain) killifish, medakas, halfbeaks, and (most) rainbowfish/atherines. At least some of these should be easy enough to obtain through your local fish store. Celebes rainbowfish, Telmatherina ladigesi, are colourful and small and lively, and should do very nicely alongside most livebearers. They'll replace danios nicely. They tend to be a little more expensive than danios, but not much, and like rainbows generally, compensate for price by being durable and long-lived.

Most of these fish will do well in slightly brackish water, too, but you'll need to do a little research just to be sure. The Brackish FAQ I edit (see below) is one place you might start.

Cheers,

Neale
