An internet site I found "Tim's Tropical Fish" stated that Zebra Danios are compatable with Betta's. I have also heard that Zebra Danio's can be fin nippers. Can anyone with Zebra experience tell me if they are prone to fin nipping or not?

Thanks

yes they can be, they can even kill other fish, if kept in the wrong conditions.

to prevent this
you need at least 5 in the group and a tank at least 24" long.

IME keeping ZDs with male bettas is not a problem as long as you have followed the above guide.

I also had my danios with a betta and they were fine, but I have 6 in a tank 30" long.

We have a Leopard Danio (sadly only one left now) who gets on well with the rest of the tank. Dont know of anyone who has had problems with Zebras.

They are gorgeous they have to be my favourite fish so far. I wanna get a huge tank dedicated to all the different types of danio available.

Once I have the tank set up and settled I will get a pic of it. I was at the LFS today and saw some pearl danios which I really liked. I will probably use those. I anticipate stocking my 39 gallon tank with,
1 male betta
3 sword tails (don't know what kind my daughter Sarah will pick these)
3 platys ( Emily is picking these, probably Mickey Mouse Platys)
2 corys
6 pearl danios
