zebra danio breeding

hi all
would it b ok to breed zebra danios with sand on the bottom of the tank??

would it b ok to breed them in a 5 gallon??

wat else would i need in the tank to breed them???

The best substrate for breeding danios is marbles, yes the little glass balls that you play a game with.

Or you could get a net and dip it in so the fish can't get to the eggs.

I breed mine in the community tank and harvest the eggs and fry from my eheim filter.

I have only started doing it seriously recently as I have had to use rainwater in the tank and heavy planting to make it feasible.

As I have eight different danio species in the same tank it is a bit of a lottery but I already have about 50 fry and they seem to breed more often when they are not "netted". I cant catch them anyway!
