I am under the impression (forgive me if im wrong) that the Longfin gene in Zebra Danios is dominant over the short fin gene. I am also under the impression that the glowing gene from glofish is also dominant. If one of each of these danios was crossed, theoretically this would yield long finned glofish... is that true? Has anyone heard of/seen this?

If i am misinformed about the genes forgive me, it is hard to find much about them online.

Thanks

not sure about the genetics of these fish but Mikev, a member on here is currently working with them. Perhaps contact him and have a chat.

Thanks, Colin,

(This has been already answered by pm but I noticed the thread now).

Glo- gene is certainly dominant, and the observed distribution of the trait matches this very well.

I'm not positive if the long fin gene is. For one thing, it takes quite a long time before one can see if the fry is long finned or not (the presence of the glow gene becomes apparent after 7-10 days).
