I saw five zebra catfish in my lfs today, first time i've ever seen them. I really like them but i don't know about the price, is £35 reasonable?
They're being acclimatised at the moment and will be ready on saturday, i guess they'll be bought straight away so i wanna know if they're a good fish.
thanks

If you are talking about zebra plecs then £35 each is a absolute steal, where is this store located?

Zebra catfish can refer to a few fish, do you have any idea on what they actually are?

He said they weren't plecs but they were the catfish that grew to about 7cm. I have a book called tropical fish mini encyclopedia by Gina Sandford which has the exact fish in it. He said if they had plecos it would cost at least £100.

And the store is in Swindon, Manor garden centre. They had about five.

what is the scientific name given in the book?

Not Zebra Otocinclus by any chance?

he said it wasn't, i aint no expert.
Just looked on a website, it is a plec but only grows to 8.5cm
is £35 a good price?

Well the name isnt that then, and tbh most shops wouldnt even be able to buy them in at that price nevermind sell them at that. get a picture becasue sounds a little suss lol, and £35 for a normal run of the mill catfish seems alot ;)

I doubt they were hypancistrus zebra, £135 + is a more likely price from an LFS.
Are you sure they weren't hypancistrus king tiger or queen arabesque or similar as £35 would be an average price for one of these?

Although saying that if they truly are zebras, snap them up as that would be an absolute steal

are you sure it didnt look like this ..... often called a columbian zebra?

or.....

or bottom pic a chocolate zebra.....
