Today I went to 4 different lfs and could not find any Yo Yo loaches, I've asked if they could get them but they all said no. Are they called Botia Historica ( something like that ), I will try for Maidenhead Aquatics in Bristol as I am running out of lfs. I don't really like the idea of mail ordering fish.

I have to mail order my loaches. Some areas just don't carry many species of laoch in general.

B75 have you tried trimar?
http://www.trimar.co.uk/
they are based in cornwall and do a postal service of fish
ignore the websites graphics, they are a great company

BTW the scientific name for yoyos' is Botia almorhae

I have heard them called something like that. Maidenhead will know what they are.

Botia Almorhae is not the YoYos'.

Botia Almorhae is similar to Botia Lohachata as these two do get labelled as "pakistani loach".

it is according to loaches.com :dunno:
and pakistani loach is just another common name for them.

I thought B75 was after the botias that look as though they have morse code down the side?
They are different to both the types of pakistani loach.

I stand corrected if I am wrong? :dunno:

The fish in question has pretty much always been called a Pakistani Loach because of it's home range. The name Yo-Yo loach is a more recent, probably American common name for the same fish. I hadn't heard it used, (in Europe), before I joined the forums here.

Both common names apply to the fish Botia almorhae which is the current name, Botia lohachata is an older name for the same species.

Botia histrionica is a different species. It has been out of the hobby for a good many years, but has made a come-back recently and numerous shops have had them.

Yo-Yo Loach, the name comes from the markings - if you look at the fish and use a good deal of imagination, you can make out the words Yo Yo on the sides. Some specimens are clearer then others.

That site is well worth browsing for loach interested people.
