H all,

I am currently gaining expierence in fishkeeping on fw side of things and have had my tank running now for a few months and all is going well. However my aim was never for fw species but for a reef system. I will be looking to setup a tank in approx 12 months and am using the time in between to 1. Gain expierence with keeping fish at home, 2. Research the world of marine, 3. Buy equipment, 4 Do more research.

I have previously done some work with with the local aquarium a few years ago so gained a little knowledge there but was more involved with water testing and sample collection. The problem I'm having is combining all the knowledge I'm gaining and applying it to a real world situation. Could someone point me in the direction of a good LFS in my local area who I can chat with and look at the systems in operation.

I currently use Tamar View in Saltash who have what appears to be a reasonable Marine section but I have not approached them about it as yet.

Thanks in advance

Ben

By the way I am in Plymouth, UK

well tbh best way to tell if a LFS is good with marines etc, is how long they have kept/sold for, health of fish and corals and also mainly enthusiam (spll?).
then see what they say about what you need and we can help to that and maybe say you dont need that or you need that.
best have a chat with them but tbh research is best thing in marine u cant go wrong then well fully.

yeah the best way to tell is just to go and look at them. assess the quality of the livestock. If you see any poorly/dead fish point them out and see how they react to it. Ask what day they get deliveries in so you can find out how long they quarantine new arrivals for. Arm yourself with some really awkard questions and see how they react. That's the only real way of telling who is worth they're salt...... sorry couldn't resist!
