Breeding. I'm going to start when I move into my new house, and use my 30 gallon as a growout. However, before I even think of doing this, I am having some problems with my fish. Mainly with my CT's, I'm not seeing any poop. I have a good feeling they are constipated. Now, I've tried using the pea technique, still nothing. When I first got them, I saw black, big poop. Now, if anything, I see something that looks like cotton. :dunno: Anyone have any ideas? Should I put them in bettamax? Starve them?

See, there is the problem. I have fed them bio-gold pellets. Usually, they eat one, not too interested. I would feed bloodworms, but I don't have them at the moment, so I just stick to the bio-gold.

 They eat one pellet? Or did I read that wrong? If they're just eating one, that could be the problem right there.

Well....1 bio gold pellet would pretty much equal no poop -_- Ya better get some bloodworms, these are fancy pants bettas we're talking about. I'm willing to bet money that they weren't raised on dry....they may never even have been weaned off of frozen/live.

I see. Also, is it possible one of you guys will sell me some bloodworm culture or brineshrimp cultures, so I can get some live food going?

I think your bettas were raised on a meaty diet.
You should follow other peoples' advice on here and buy some bloodworms.
And I keep a brine shrimp culture and it's really easy for my betta to eat.

also i dont' think bloodwroms can be cultured. I would buy frozen food from the stores and feed them that, or do you have those already?

bloodworms are larvae of a flying insect so i dont think you could culture them as such...
yeah i dont think you want mosquitos escaping into your house.

I also wouldnt medicate them with bettamax unless you have a reason too. Bettamax will not cure constipation. That is like if you get a cold you take some exlax, it wont prevent you from coughing, but will make you wish you didnt cough ;)

Me 3 new bettas were raised on live/frozen food and I tried feeding them Bio Gold -- they took one bite and spit it back out LOL.

So now I'm feeding frozen brine shrimp and frozen bloodworms and they gobble that right up. I talked to the breeder I got them from and she said she also fed them frozen daphnia and white worms I believe.

They'll probabably really like frozen foods -- give it a try :)
