Just come back from a pub i havnt been to before and they had a juwel aquarium with a marine setup in the restraunt area, in it there were 3 clown fish, a yellow tang and what i'm told by the bar staff was a yellow spotted box fish. It was the best thing ever!!!!!!

Anyone know anything about keeping them, any special requirements and approximate prices? I really want one when my step mum gets her marine aquarium back up and running!!!

I just read they can grow to 20", i think that means its out of the qustion for us :(

That's my cubix. They can grow bit but my LFS said he would swap him when he got too big. They are really amusing fish... Go mad when you put live brine shrip in. They can be deceptively quick when food is involved.

I was told that they release toxins into the water when they get stressed and can wipe out the entire system including themselves...is that true? and what constitutes 'stress'- a more aggressive fish, a water change...I'm planning a fowlr tank and am trying to formulate a fish plan- but ruled those out quickly when I found that out....

Yes, the box fish/cow fish/camel cow (whichever name you want lol) all can release toxins into the water and kill all of your fish. They only do this when they become stressed, or die. For that reason, I believe they aren't compatible with alot of aggressive or semi-aggressive fish. They are considered an expert fish I believe. However I have seen them kept well with clowns, and seahorses. Do your research :) I love these fish, they also have ones with long horns! :)
