Yellow Cat

hi, my mums friend wants to give me what he thinks is a catfish (since it has wiskers apparently) he says its yellow/orange and fairly large bout 3-4 inch's which it grew to fairly quickly , the only thing i can think of it being is a bumblebee catfish but i would of thought he would mention that it has stripes , any ideas people?

yeah could be , but somehow i got the impression it wasn't a pleco type might be though, any other possibilities?

sounds like s pleco of some sort, they grow quite quikly and can be yellowish in coloration.

i have been told that it isn't a catfish ,that its more of a middle swimmer and closer looking to my parrot chilid and about the same size. but apparently has whiskers im not sure such a fish exists or maybe it doesn't have whiskers i really dont know what it could be anymore ,could be anything

Scroll down this page and the 2nd picture is the golden morph. Could it be a golden morph dojo (weather) loach, they have barbels too? I have one that is about 4 inches in my coldwater tank. He's great! Very active and eats out of my hand.

a yellow fish that looks a little like a blood parrot, and has whiskers, sounds like a gourami to me, too. gold gourami maybe?

i hope its not a gourami, no offense to gourami ownersw but when i had a few gourami i wasn't very impressed they never seemed to really do anything and were a little boring to be honest, i doubt its the loach because they proberly would of called it an eel or something, still have to wait and see
