first i would conditionthem for a week or two on live or frozen foods i would also let them see each othe for about an hour a day to get them in "the mood" then put thm in your breeding tank with the male free and the female in a glass vase or somthing then if she is flaring and showing her stripes let he go (if possible right before a storm) then i give them 3 days and if they havent done anything i seperate them but if they do as soon as their done GET THE FEMALE OUT then the male should care for th eggs until they hatch bygetting them when they fall and putting them back in the nest then ill give you a good website to go from there
I would wait a while before you start breeding bettas.
You just got her and she might not be in the condition to breed right away.
I think you should read up on how to breed as much as you can before you make your decision whether to breed them or not. There is a lot of work in it.
Good luck.
Is that a sexist statement? I'm offended....I think
anyways Idolz is right, you just got the female betta. Give her some time and remember to condition both the female and the male or else they won't be able to cope with the stress of spawning.
Lol no I didnt mean that way ! Cause females usually wont fight, but can they see ech other like 24/7?Because the tanks are right next to each other or should I let them see each other an hour a day and put a notebook between to block them?
make sure you have a female before you try it though first time i thought i had a female, it was a male plakat and the fish shop told it was a female too. well, at least now its rated the worst in san francisco on this betta association website.
I guess we might all think that for an easy life and not so many jars to wash but you get what you get Out of 22 fry so far I have identified 7 males for sure and it looks like I have only one female for sure so I guess I have many more males to jar. Oh and my female community tank has constant issues and I've got some girls that are as agressive as the boys so you may not be able to keep all the females together either
Betta breeding can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience but please, please research so you can do the very best for your bettas
oh and yes, making sure you have a male and a female definitely helps as I nearly put a male plakat and a male crowntail together
