Woo Hoo!

Finally we have bristle eggs... its been imanent for weeks now :)

anyway the story so far ain't too good though :(

here's the hungry father :( and the smaller - daft- mother

** Pictures pending **

What a pair :D

Good progress - i think they must have been in the tank longer than just yesturday as they have hatched this morning :)

we now have a bout 6 yolks with heads and tails :D :D

typical - just as we're off on holiday too... We wont get to see their first 2 weeks of life :( - I just hope my mum is ok looking after them

yep i know. what i've done is totally against my own advice!

If i put the little wrigglers back now the tetras will eat them as the male was not interested (i promise you - he was eating them!)

i was wondering if there was a reason he was doing this - i did think that he might not have fertilised them and so he was eating them instead - but the ones i saved have now hatched - so that that theory out the window... :dunno:

Could this be a novice mistake? Sometimes, those parent-hood instinct don't always kick in properly during the first spawn.

I hear the same stories for mouth brooders (swallow them), cichlids (abandoning their eggs), etc during the first attempt.

looks like he's getting the hang of it....
either that or she decided to lay them in a sensible place!

We've got more eggs (a good 40 eggs - all orange)

And he's in the tube fanning them this time.

The other 11 fry are only 4 weeks old!
Thankfully i was chatting to a fried (manager of LFS) who said to me just yesturday that he cant get hold of bristles at all at the moment and he was eager to have mine... looks like he'll be getting a good supply :)

Cool, Well done. What type of BN are they? I they are a great fish and at the moment i have six BN four of the same species and two of an other and i am waiting for a spawn.

I'm pretty sure they are Ancistrus Temmincki L181's

He's still looking after them... I'm keeping an eye on him... but fingers crossed, he knows his role now :)
