-_- I would love a Betta, but don't know anything about keeping them. Do you need a heater,a light ,special food suppliments etc. Please help and advise Thank-you :S

There's a general faq section on the page that you could always check :D but if you want specific answers, heaters and filters depend on the tank size. Most filters have too strong of a current for boy bettas and sweep them all around, so you'd want a fairly large tank for that. Heaters depend on the temp. of the room you're housing the fish in and the size of the tank as well. You most likely won't need a heater for a 1gallon tank as long as you keep it in a spot that's away from drafts and the like. You ALWAYS want a lid for your tank, no matter what size.. and most everyone here will suggest that the minimum tank size for a betta is 1gallon to 2.5gallons. Bettas eat a wide variety of frozen and live foods from your local store, or you could also feed yours dried food. I would reccommend pellets over flakes, simply because the pellets seem to cloud the water less.

:D There's the basics at least.. I'm sure the FAQ will be able to tell you more and the people on this forum are quite helpful as well.

:hyper: That doesn't seem to tricky;how long do I need to get my tank water settled?

:*) No I don't have a heater at the minute;may buy one in the near future

People said it would be fine without a heater but I thought it might be cruel and make it ill

My friend has one without a heater, but her house is warm. Its happy as it makes bubblenests. My mouse :D house even is too cold, so my babies have got heaters..I do spoil them though! Do you live somewhere warm?

I don't have heaters in my bettas tank and they are fine. At night I just take a towel and wrap the tanks up to keep some heat in the tank.
