Okay, whenever I give him pellets, he spits them out. I finally figured out that it was not because he doesn't like the pellet, but it is too big. I crushed each pellet into grains, like sand, and droped them into his bowl. He ate them! One grain by another, HE ATE THEM! HORRAY! Now I don't have to risk constipation by feeding him bloodworms everyday now! But, it was a waste buying four brands of food, thinking that if he doesn't eat one brand, he will problebly like and eat the other. The answer is....the pellet is simply too big.

what you've discovered is true with any small mouthed fish. my dwarf gouramis had the same issue. most fish will eat (or try to eat) anything that fits in their mouths. that goes for pellets, flakes, other small fish, etc. glad your betta is eatting well.

Good for you, FlareBettaGuy

Isn't it funny how sometimes the easiest solution to a problem works the best? :D

i did the same with shrimp pellets. i noticed pierce wasn't snagging bits off the pellet as it floated and the water was turning brown, so i started crushing a teeny bit. wouldn't ya know it, he gobbled 'em down.

but neither of them touch pellets, ground or not.

bah, humbug.
