I really don't know where to post this so i'm going to try it here sorry if it's in the wrong place. Would or does anybody have Dwarf Gourami's on their community tank cause i'm been doing research on this guys and i'm getting a mix info like some site says that they are okay to be in a community and other sites says that they are extremely aggressive. I really like this guys and i'm already planning on getting it this weekend, but i don't want to return just incase they start to terrorize my whole tank. I need to hear from the experience people here before i'll make up my mind. Thanks in advance :D

i've got a 30 u.s. gallon community tank with 2 dwarf gourami (see my sig)

they are both male, and they do argue quite a bit, but i don't think they get too stressed about it. usually the red (natural) dwarf chases the blue one, but sometimes it's the other way round. the blue one tends to hang out on the left side near the amazon sword, the red one tends to hang out on the right and in the middle of the tank. i bought them both at the same time, though they came from different tanks

the red also sometimes briefly chases the guppies if it's in a bad mood and they're in its way, but the guppies don't mind (i think)

they don't seem at all concerned with the other fish

the blue one loves to spit at me when i'm about to feed them. if i take too long he even jumps out of the water at my hand!

i don't think it'd be a good idea to have more than 2 of them in my tank

Try asking in the 'Betta and Gourami's' section. you may get more help there. Sorry i cant help, but i,ve never had any myself.

Thanks for the reply noop, I'll probably get just one since my tank is not well planted(I have about 4 plants but not real). How many colors are there? I know there's a blue and red, do they come in any other colors?

i had a regular dwarf gourami in my 10 gal tank with mollies and cories, did great. i also have flame dwarf gourami in my 10 gal with guppies (now tetras) and hes fine. the two dwarves in the 10 together DID NOT work, not enought territory for two, but they were fine with the other fish.

Hi G_Sharky :)

Gouramis are territorial and tend to chase each other, but they seldom do any harm. Usually, they ignore the other fish.

Gouramis are just this way, and some people find their constant "bickering," disruptive to the sense of tranquility they want a community tank to provide. Other people think their lovely colors and shapes are more important and can overlook this habit.

One gourami will do quite well in a small tank, so this may be the best way to go. :D
