Ok so this came into my head.
So, everyoine has had a blackout and need oxygen for their fish, what about this, it also cleans your tank

1. Take two empty margerine containers of equiel size

2. Then, take 3 tubes, about 1/2-1 inch in diameter

3. cut one to be about 3 inches long

4. cut the other two to be about 1 1/2 feet long

5. Then, stuff the margarine containers with sponges or carbon.

6. Cut a hole about 1/2 to 1 inch in diamter, cut it exactly the same size as your tubing is around. 2 holes, one on either side of the maragerine contariners, so when you are done you will have cut 4 holes between the 2 m.containers

7.now, stick your smallest tube in the holes between the two margerine containers, when you are done you should have 1 hole left on each margerine container

8. Then, take your other two tubes and stick them in the remaining margerine container holes, which should be on the opposite side of the other holes that now have the smaller tube in it.

8. insert the two large tubes into your tank after you have put them in the holes

9. suck onto the one of the tubes and when the water comes thru stick it back into the tank

wala, a filter made all by yourself
im gonna try it soon but i have to get the supplies
if none of this makes since
let me know

interesting idea but i reckon after a while the flow would stop and would just be taking up space if u have some kind of water pump in one witht he intake pointing at the other then that could work. but why use 2 tubs?
if you want a cheap filter i can suggest the oen in the sticky its awesome of i use it alot with fry tanks and such costs next to nothing if u have an airpump allready.

Yeh, i was just wondering if it would possibly work

take you gravel vac and try to do that ;)

I'm not sure if I understand. Are you trying to make a DIY canister filter? How does the water return back into the tank?
