is the idea of the reactor to help the Co2 dissolve?
as I have been thinking is it not possible to have a Tube facing down in the water, and there is an air pocket inside the tube, half the tube full of water (if this makes sense)
add to the bottom some sponge so the Co2 has to build pressure inside the tube then be forced through the sponge,
So while inside building pressure it is being absorbed by the water,
then split into small parts by the sponge (or something similar)
then the process starts again of building pressure,
Or am I just speaking total crud![]()
That will work perfectly with DIY co2. I'm using a cheep $8 pond pump with a similar concept with my co2.

could you try and explain (simply if you can) how you have your reactor set up? This one is going to cost about £25![]()
would it be easier for me to put the co2 tube into the outlet tube of my filter like this?

Is this just the same or wont it be as effective?
hi, its not actually going to be "in" the filter, just in the outlet pipe. The hole is drilled in the side and the tube pushed through with an airstone on the end. I thought air stone diffusion wasnt much cop or is it more effective because of the water flowing past it?EmIt will be very effective but you have to be very careful or your filter can suck the contents of your diy co2 into the tank. I've also heard that the co2 can make the plastics in your filter brittle ( true?!? I have no idea but I don't wanna trash my nice new filter) It can also make your filter quite loud from what i've read.Johnwould it be easier for me to put the co2 tube into the outlet tube of my filter like this?click here (scroll to bottom)Is this just the same or wont it be as effective?
Thats a whole new concept for me! How are you monitoring co2 and do you find it to be quite stable? Sorry for being dumb but what is 3/4 tubing (im from the UK) What is that little stick thing the airstone is on?I was able to find a pump similar to this httpcould you try and explain (simply if you can) how you have your reactor set up? /www.petsandponds.com/securestore/c2...16697986.2.html at princess auto for $8. I just stuck some 3/4 tubing over the output nozzle used the old blue sponge from my canister and a little air stone. Here's a nasty little drawing
it works pretty good for me in my 29g with 2x2L diy![]()
