Hi buddies, I am about to buy a 10 gallons tank with plants and sand. I was wondering if the 2 feet tubelight on the top lid, would heat up the water? Or should there be no extra light? Would I need light to ensure the plants live? For how long can one keep the light on, without the Betta getting effected?

Most likely the heat will be reflected off the surface of the water. Heater lamps won't even work. I'm not sure about the plant part; sorry. :(

My 10 gallon has a single T8 tube which does affect the water temperature over the course of a day, but only by about 0.5 - 1 C so no big deal. My Betta certainly doesn't seem phased by it.

It still takes a heater to keep the water at the required 24/25 or whatever :)
