I first thought I had 3 x-ray tetras but I actually have 2 red eyed tetras and one x-ray tetra. So I guess this is why he doesn't come out and swim or eat, he eats cories sinking tablets. And the red eyed tetras also don't come out to swim but they do eat. So how many of each tetra should get for this 10g tank?

none
both tetras need to be in groups of at least 5
Xrays reach 5cm and red eyes reach 7cm
so both species of adult fish will vastly overstock your tank.

Well my lps said nothing about them outgrowing their tank  So will the fish that are in their now outgrow it? So what can I do to get them to come out swim since I can't get much more and I don't want to take the chance that if I return them that they won't put it back in the tank and they would kill it, because their used to be 3 cories in their but the third one wouldn't eat or move around for the 3 days I had them and I returned him to get store credit and he said he didn't like how it wasn't active enough so that made me think he was going to kill it. And I don't want to have 3 perfectly healthy fish killed because I could have done something.

It is a sad fact that many LFS' are in it just for the
money and care nothing about fish.
They wouldn't tell you, so you buy more fish than
can be held by your tank, and when they die you go
back to the same shop and buy more fish.
to them it is far better that you go there every few months
buying fish, than it is for you to go there once every couple
of years to buy fish.

Now to get your x-ray to be more confident and come out of hiding,
he needs more of the same species. "there is strength in numbers".
more fish = a confident single fish, IE in the fishes mind if there are 6
of us I have 5 chances of not getting eaten by a predator.
do you understand or am I rambling?

The same can be said for any schooling fish.
