my current fish are listed below.

my tank works out to 27.5 UKG? so do you go by UK or US gallons for the one inch per gallon rule?

im not sure how big my harlequins will grow, or my peppered cories can somebody let me know how many inches of room i have left in my tank to fill?

current tank stats:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
PH 7.2

i would like a schoal of blue tetras but not sure if there is actually enough room.

You've got loads of room yet, do you mean the neon tetra if so a shoal of 15 would be nice, not big waste producers.

no not neons - the LFS had them labelled as blue tetras. they look like this:

very pretty arent they :) ive had neons before and wanted to go for something different.

oh i forgot to add i have a fluval 205 external filter - which filters the tank *more* than enough.

thanks for that wilder :) according to my calculations i will only have enough room for 5 though  im not sure they would do well as a group fo 5?

It's only a guide adding 8 wouldn't be a problem so don't worry.

Just asked tokis phoenix and she think it will be fine to add them, as long as the strimp is ok with the other fish you have.

As long as you keep a close watch on your nitrate levels and are diligent with the cleaning and water changes 8-10 of the tetras should be fine. Those Blues look very nice BTW.

yeah the only fish that bothers shrimp is my male cherry barb. (but he tries to bother everybody bigger than him!)

doing a bit of tank rearranging today as plants are groing a little *Too* well. probably pick up the new fishies tomorrow :D *woohhooo!!!!*

If you ever need to check out adult sizes of fish, you can always use the fish index on this forum, or any aqarium book, or google the fish. Peppered corys grow between 2 and 3 inches (females tend to get bigger), harlequins about 1 3/4 inches.

Blue tetras look great, grow a bit bigger than neons, but not ginormous- oh I want a shoal of those and a new tank to put them in -Santa!! Santa!!???

actually there used to be 3 cories... but one sadly died after he damaged his tail after getting caught in the filter intake tube. :-( he was much smaller than the other 2 so he could fit in. i since turned the filter down slightly and no other fish were injured.

do you think i should get another to replace him?

my boyfriend also saw some cardinals today and he wants those instead of the blue tetras i had my eye on. i still want the blues though :sly:

I would get a couple more corys to bring that group up to 4 or 5. Corys do so much better in groups.

After that, you should be able to have 6 or so of the blue tetras (species Boehlkea fredcochui if you care to know). They are really gorgeous fish and I think they would look stellar alongside the red/copper of your rasboras.

That would pretty much have you fully stocked.

Good luck! Sounds like a wonderful tank!
