Would it be safe to add two more gudgeons?

Yes, I have 3 now. The new one has accepted the food, he/she stays in cover but thats normal cause he is settling in... He/she sometomes will come out though and explore the open areas.
Just trying to catch up on all the things you will and won't do. Did you Qt the new fish?

Imagine getting a time machine and buying fish
Amateur. If you had a time machine and bought fish you would be foolish.

Go forward in time and get a universal translator so you can talk to people in the past in different languages and also to the animals.

Get a book of the fish you want and find out where they come from.

Use time machine to go back several hundred years and collect lots of wild ones so they are genetically perfect and free of diseases. Same deal with plants, birds and other animals, including extinct ones like Dodos and Tassie Tigers.

Try to avoid the people in the past and use live traps to catch the animals/ fish.

Bring them forward to present day and open a zoo and pet shop.

Watch out for dinosaurs, they bite hard and it hurts, like a real lot, major major pain. You don't wanna be bitten by one coz even if you survive, you get awful bacterial infections from the rotting flesh and bugs in their mouths.

This is why I "argued" with my self while at the store... I didnt have my qt tank set up... This is why I spent a lot of time looking at each individual fish in the tank to make sure they were all healthy... There were absolutely no signs of disease after 30 minutes of standing there... So I also argued with my self about: "Well if there is a disease am I up for the challenge to treat it". I thought about all the water changes Id have to do and the salt additions... So I decided that I would be up for it. So you, here I am with a new fish... But I'm not getting the lambchops yet.
