buy another 10 gallon fro puffers? i was thinkin of 3 and i am just in the middle of planing it (after i am done with my *ick* problem.

is there any special care? etc?

For info on puffers I'd start with the pinned posts at the top of the oddballs institute forum. Lots of great info.

okay well i'm gonna put my questions here:

1. do they need aquarium salt?
2. are they easy to keep (hardy?)
3. how many can be fit into a 10 gallon?
4.do i have to "trim" it's teeth? if so how? can they just eat snails to trim?
5. what do they eat? flakes? etc?

and how big do they get?

1. Nope. Dwarf puffers are strictly FW puffers.
2. So far so good for me. They can be a little sensitive to water conditions and are messy lil eaters, so make sure you keep up on the water changes.
3. I would say between 3 & 4
4. Dwarf teeth are hard to tell...I feed mine a regular diet of snails. Just watch them when they eat, make sure everyone is having something to eat.
5. I feed mine frozen brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms and of course snails. They like live food cause they like to "hunt" them.
6. they get from 1-1.5" roughly.

HTH & Good Luck with you lil ones...my puffs are by far the most interesting fish I own. Oh, and I have mine in a species specific tank with bumble bee gobies and a couple of otto's for algae control.

oh yea and what kinds of snails do i feed them? big 1s? apple mystery snails? i cant find baby snails :/

Tips for keeping them:
-Make sure you don't overfeed them. They will eat and eat and eat til they explode. Just as with any other fish, they aren't gonna starve, so if you feed them just once a day that is fine. Make sure you keep up on the water changes as they are messy lil buggers. Just have fun with them.

I get baby snails from my lfs. I know a lot of people get common pond snails. There are only a few types that you should stay away from as their shells are too hard for puffs. I believe one of them are the Malasian Trumpet Snails.

Here is a link to a snail site that might help you out.

how many snails should i feed 3 dwarf puffers? btw u are really helpful

Well, I put about 20 snails in my tank every 2 weeks. But what I would do is start out with a small number (like 5 or so) and see how long it takes for them to be eaten, then go from there.
