Nobody like this fellow? He is a very bright blue marble. A unique halfmoon betta.

He has 3 bids so far lol. If it wasn't so cold...and for the fact that I am tapped out from buying umteen hundred xmas gifts lol...I would try for him...I think he is a very handsome fish indeed.

What's wrong with the marble gene? I think those fish are very pretty...like a Paint horse.

His tail looks to have been broken at some point though.

I don't think that part been broken. Since it is a blue marble, the tail can be like that. kind like transparent and make that betta very unique looking. One of a kind.:) Yup. three people bid now but it's still worth that price.:)

A bit OT, but yesterday I saw a Marble Plakat from Stingray Betta from Signapore. Really nice fish, but it cost more than my Halfmoon and one of my Jumbo Plakats combined.

This post is making me think of going and snagging it, but I must admit I think 6 betta's is already too much maintenance for me and probably would like to go down to 4 or 5.

Just my opinion. The marble gene is a curse that will ruin several good lines. It already has done just that. A year ago, i told several top breeders the marble gene would come back to haunt people. Nobody believed me, until breeders started noticing some so called pure lines had marble popping up, when no marble should be there. Since scores of people have been spawning to fish carrying the marble gene, it has gotten mixed in when it was not supposed to be there. yes, to some they are pretty fish. To someone who wants to raise a line with specific traits, having a good line suddenly produce the marble to fish that are being showed, it is a disaster. Several top breeders are now in the long difficult process of trying to remove the gene from their lines. It is the same with the melano gene. It is very hard to find steels that are not melano geno. I guess if people would only spawn marbles to marbles, it would be ok...but most do not. they mix the lines. I'm predicting within another year, there will be a widespread effort to remove the marble genes from many lines. Just my opinion.

 you should see what my blue/white butterfly spawn is developing into, marble galore, not very impressed

I think in the west, people tends to like marble type of bettas. People don't care since it is just for pets and as long they are pretty. As for breeders who wants pure, I think they should stick up the solid line rather mixed with others trait that has marble. If planning to have marbles, they should stick with marble trait. I know this will not work with everyone because we all have a tendency to breed a mixed to get a unique betta or different. As for me, I prefered to breed pure color like red and without butterfly. That is my preference. :)
