so yesterday i took down my 20 high because i didn't like the look of it and i decided to transfer the fish into the 20 long and just focus on it for now. so the 20 high was gone as of yesterday. tongiht i come home from work and hear a trickling as soon as i walked into my room. it sounded like my filter when the water is low. well i turned the lights on and only 1/2 of the tank was full. it was 100% full when i left for work at 2:30 today. i got home at 11:30 btw. well there was water all over the stand and my floor was drenced. so now my fish are sitting in a bucket on the floor. will they last until the morning with no filter? should i do anything for them? the plants and the fish are going back to the lfs tomorrow morning. was just wondering if i should do anything for the night. lets just say i work at 11 tomorrow morning and i don't have a lot of time to take care of this. i'm gonna be out of the fish hobby for a while. i wasn't planning on leaving at all, and my hobby ended in 2 days. let me know what i should do for my fish. thanks.

also, i have an airline running so as to agitate the surface. any thoughts?

I would put the heater in the bucket of fish, for sure. Chill will bring on disease.

If you only have a few fish, I think they'll be fine overnight without a filter, but with an airstone on, and a cover of some sort to keep them from jumping out.

If you have a lot of fish in that bucket, I'd be concerned about ammonia buildup overnight, and would put the filter on the bucket, even if you have to haywire it on somehow.

Dude, that sucks...:( Sounds like you're doing the right things, definately have the heater in the bucket, definately have the airstone, and make sure that the transfer to another tank is done as soon as you can if yo can get some sort of filtartion going ion it'd be good, possibly try some Ammo-lock or equivilant to combat ammonia build up? I dread the day when I come home to find a tank has leaked..."Worst Case Scenario" is about right..the only thing I can think of that would be worse would be coming home to a completely burst panel :S

Hope you get sorted
