One of my new girls I got last Saturday (4 days ago) hasn't eaten anything :/ I have 4 other girls and all take betta pellets, bloodworms as well as the occasional pea but this girl wont eat anything.

She seems very timid and hides in the back a lot and she'll also occasionally rest on the bottom of the tank.

Is this normal behaviour for new female bettas? Is she just getting used to the tank? With the other girls they ate almost instantly after I got them...but this one seems to have a funny personality :X

I'm afraid she'll starve herself :(

It's hard to say. I had a male like that and he finally cam around a week later. Maybe he was eating at night while I was asleep. Good luck, I hope she makes it ok. :)

She won't starve herself. The food that you are feeding her maybe different from the food she is used to eating. I have had a male go 5 days without eating. Don't worry too much she will come around.

one thing a female or male betta cant resist is a live giant bloodoworm.
if you could get ur hands on some of them they are the food to use nothing will say no lol

Well good news...yesterday she came up to the surface when it was feeding time and actually took a couple pieces of bloodworm

It's just funny how different she is from the other 4 girls. Very unique personality :p

Thanks guys for your help :D

Awww I'm glad she started eating

Just a thought, but my babies have been fed on live/frozen food since they were born and lately I've been trying to introduce them to crushed pellets and betta flakes but they aren't very interested in them. I just wanted to try and get them used to these things as most of them will be sold to the lfs and people buying them will be told to feed them flakes or pellets :/

So I was thinking that most bettas will have the same problems when they are sold on so I guess its natural that they will not want to eat what you are offering for a while as they are used to what they are normally fed.

Did any of that make sense? :S

My first CT male Ozzy didn't accept anything for a week and then only bloodworms for the second week. Thankfully he now eats pellets but he loves frozen/live foods best
