ive noticed 2 of my goldfish are poorly they are just sitting on the bottom doing nothing only come up for food. And also ive noticed that my comet has a tear in its tail and i think he has a couple of red spots on hes side can anyone shead some light on this. And should i get a hostpital tank set up.....any suggestions would be appriated.

first place to start i think will be to test your water. The problems can be better diagnosed if we know what your parameters are, then we can start knocking out suggestions. If you don't have a test kit, most LFS will test it for you, just take in a ziplock bag with some of your water.

i will check for amonia but i have a prob with my nitrie kit i have the test but no chart does anyone know what the colour should be .....its a tetra kit
....and also my other fish seem fine

Hold on and I will check mine:

???????^%#$^%$&%(&

NOPE........not the same one....but I can't imagine burnt orange would be GOOD! ;o(

i have a tetra one also, does yours require 7 drops of a clear liquid then 7 more of a fourescent yellow liquid? If do you are creeping up the scale. How long has the tank been running? You might try a 25% water change to see if that helps perk them up a bit. Remember to condition the water before you add it to the tank.

its been running for quite awhile ive had the fish 6 months i done a water change 3 days ago i'll do another tomorrow.Could it be overcrowed the fish have got quite big there in a 2 and half foot tank in it i have

1 shubumkin about 4inches
goldfish about 5 inches
2 more goldfish about 4inches
1 comet at 3 inches
1 fantail about 2 inches

when i got them they were in a 18 inch tank.......so i went and got another one but they have grown alot.Would any of them be ready for a pond? And also ive heard they like salt shoud i try that?

i have aquarium salt, i'll add some tomorrow when i do the water change.... see if that works

hi caz27,
Do you have filtration in the tank? Goldies do like salt and it helps with some (many) ailments. Did you look at the chart that came with your water test? What does burnt orange mean? Tell us everything :D :D :D

Seriously, I am including a link to koivet, goldfish information:

http://www.koivet.com/html/articles/articl...h%20Information

Until you figure out the water parameters, you should hold off on meds.

Best of luck

AND NO TABLE SALT! Iodine is not good for your fishes

ive lost the chart from the nitite test but i thought someone might know....i have a fluval 103 ,tank is planted and it has a airstone.the other fish are happy...Ive never had any probs before apart from a bit of finrot.

I took a sample of water to my local pet store, they have tested it and informed me that the Nitrate/Nitrite and amonia levels are fine, however the PH was over 9. They didn't seem to think that the PH level would cause the problems my fish have been experiencing.

What do you guys think? Could this be Fluke, or does fluke affect all the fish? 4 of the 7 fish are still lively and appear healthy.

Thanks
