We will be opening the Classified section shortly, and the Moderating team will be moving topics this weekend. Please be aware that both sections will be open to posting for several hours to perhaps a day, and all topics will be accessible to members.

Thank you for bearing with us during this move!

Shame about this. I know that myself and a few other members had commented that division by Geographical location, not just UK/US was needed. One of the mods was kind enough to pin my 'Tyne and Wear, Durham and North Yorks' thread on the Buy Sell and Swap section. We've just got a good community of local members going there.

Now we have:

Livestock
Equipment
Wanted
Exchange
Plants

What if we want to sell some of each? Do we post 5 times?

And the Sales form?

Livestock:
Quantity for sale:
Reason for Sale:
Delivery or Collection:
Sales price:
Postage & Packaging:
Location:
Photograph:

You have not been able to enforce the only rule in the 'Buy Sell and Swap' section:

"Simply when posting a new topic (as many others have done already) enter your location (the location of the item) in the Topic description, it may help to add: "Will Ship" or "Collect only" as applicable."

So I doubt the Sales form is going to take off.

Also, you said the new Sectin will be Read Only. In what way?

All negotiations and questions must be posted in this sales thread and NOT by PM.

How is this going to be enforced? Can the Mods spy on our PM's?

I feel really bad complaining as this site gives a lot and asks nothing in return. (Mods) Tell me to shut up if you like and I will but is there any chance we could keep the Buy Sell and Swap Section for those of us who want to use it?

Alternatively. Could we start a 'Regional Members Exchange' or somthing like that?

im with you on this Oscar, cant see the point in this at all.... as with the regional idea, we all knew what each other had for sale (livestock or equipment etc)

I've already seen over 10 posts with people who have ignored the selling form.

It is SO ANNOYING that people don't put location in the thread title - mods, can't you remove them if this isn't included?

Can I make a request/suggestion?

Is there any way of (by country) having a way of viewing everything for sale, as well as being able to go through items specifically?

The reason I ask is that I for one (and I know of others) don't always go onto buy and sell looking for anything specifically - 99% of the time I go on there I'm just looking for anything interesting and/or cheap. I skim read the titles and anything interesting I'll have a look. (I've got a big collection of spare gear as a consequence.) As it is, assuming theres nothing there that I look into any further a quick 'bargain check' takes about 30 seconds on the UK section, and I'll usually do this 4 or 5 times a day (more if I'm off work and not busy.) Now myself and others who do the same will have to look at each section individually, which is going to take much longer.

I know it doesn't sound like a major issue - and I can see the point of the change, and thing it looks alot better and is better organised - but I was wondering if there was a way of doing an 'all categories' view as well?

Oh, and one other suggestion:

'Free to a good home' could be a category in its own right. Just a thought.

Good point, I'd not thought about that. If I'm looking for a new filter I'm not going to look in livestock, but its quite common for people to sell several in the same thread. They still will, unless the mod's are willing to spend alot more time going through posts and correcting them. I'd be surprised if the mod's have that much more time to give.

If it ain't broke don't fix it

I for one was quite happy with the buy/sell forums the way they were. The effort to improve the forums is appreciated, but I was quite happy with them.

Something else I was quite happy with was the banter that would carry on among members in the sales threads...apparently we're not allowed to talk about something unless we're buying it now though. And anyone that does will be told they're a very naughty boy and have their post removed.

Seems a bit extreme to me.

This has been up for a week, the reason being we are always open to suggestions. Nothing is 100% written in stone, we are working on this, and some adjustments may be made.

I'm just a bit dissappointed that with the link posted none of these suggestions were made in the week it has been there. This makes adjustments a bit more difficult for the moderating team, but nothing is impossible.

Keep the ideas & comments coming, positive, negative, it doesn't matter.

I think the reason for this is that its sometimes difficult to imagine how the changes will affect you, but once you start using the new version issues will become apparent much more quickly.

This is true, and is the reason we are open to suggestions, and realize there will be some future adjustments.

The moderating team has been working on remodeling the Buy, Sell, & Swap section in the past few weeks. This will soon be opened up as a “read only” Classified section for members, until the moderating team begins working on moving topics to the appropriate areas of this new section.

Thanks for the reply Tolak. I had seen the thread but like (I expect) many users of this Forum, don't always have the time to look to look at and comment n eveything and a week is not really a very long time for a site wth so many users.

Being Devils Advocate again. Where is the link to the User consultation thread? The one where you asked people how they use the Buy Sell and Swap section and the problems with it, feature requests etc.

Would have been better.

All of this said. We are not paying customers, this is not a democracy, we are guests of the site owners and at the end of the day you can do whatever you like with the site (including kick me off so i'll shut up)
