just cycling my new tank and not thinking i grabbed ammo lock instead of the ammonia and yes put it in the tank, what is the best way of fixing this problem?

I would empty the tank and start again from scratch to ensure it was all gone, though I suppose you could just keep on adding ammonia and testing the water until you have a reading of 2ppm.

The last thing you want to do is start over. All ammo-lock does is help make ammonium out of ammonia and benificial bacteria can still use it. If you have the right test kit, the pH version might have a little chart on it that you can use to tell how much ammonia and ammonium are in the water collectively. I am pretty sure that only some test kits will detect ammonium so don't be misled too easily unless you know yours will or will not.

I agree. It won't make any difference to your cycle. Even if the Ammo lock locks up the ammonia, your filter bacteria can still use it, so i wouldn't worry at all. :good:
