Hi,
I'm new to the forum and have a 10 gallon tank with tetras, gourami, x2 corys and 4 amarno shrimp. The Armano are thriving but I bought 2 Wood Shrimp a few weeks ago and since they went in, I never saw the bigger one again. The smaller one I saw on and off for a few weeks but this time I haven't seen him for 2 weeks ever since I did the water change and cleaned the filter. One time he was actually inside the bottom of the filter but he's definitely not in there now. I have a good amount of plants and some drift wood and have searched carefully by hand but nothing. The pet shop says they are masters at hiding but he's completely vanished. I feel almost bereft and have to keep telling myself it's a shrimp ffs! The pair weren't cheap at £10 for 2 but I think I won't bother with this type again.
What do people think who have had these guys? Any successes or otherwise, I would be interested in hearing about them.
Thanks.

I've never had them before. But I did hear they love a good hiding spot, usually with access to flow, so they can make use of their fans for filter feeding.

What's the flow like in the tank?

Thanks for replying. It's good, maybe too good now I've got a air pump in one corner. One time I saw the wood shrimp actually sat on drift wood right in the middle of the stream filter feeding. It was amazing to see.

If you are still uncertain, add a small amount of some crushed flake flood into the flow and see if they come out. My amanos emerge from the depths when food is added to my tank

Ok I will try this. I feed the others algae wafer and it's funny when they drag the wafers away from marauding fish!! Thanks for your help

I've had that to  Shrimp are a great watch when food is involved. I once had an amano shrimp climb to the top of the tank and sit on the thermometer with an alage wafer just to get a bite
