I've seen these tanks in some lfs, and I think they're just adorable. However, last time I avoided one because it seems fairly expensive for just one gallon. What all comes in it? I think at the store I saw the light was seperate, and the tank, base, and filter were the other part. Is this right? Eek that means I'd hafta buy more gravel and plants too.

Anyways, if you have one.. what do you think of it? Pros and cons please, be brutal! :) It seem to me that without a lid, you've got probs of both jumping betta (that's what I want in it), and evaporation. I've found that when my hood is open on my 10, it evaporates really fast - anyone notice this on the azoo's? And anyone have escapees?

Hmm what else... ah yes, does it hold heat ok? The light will be my only heat source, and it doesn't stay super warm in my house - 68 or so min. Once again, the lack of hood makes me wonder about this.

Overall, rate it, 1-10. I'm dying for another betta, and I can't really get a big tank. This one might be a little out of my price range, but if I suddenly get rich, I want one - I think they're really cute. The little clear filters are adorable. And hey freshmike if you're reading this - I just love the setup you have with your 3 azoos - looks awesome, I'm super jealous. :) Thanks everyone!

I'll let ya know in a few days :D , I just bought an azoo filter on eBay for 10 bucks, the little clear kind, I plan on using it in a 2.5 betta tank, I wish I could get my hands on about 15 of those filters :p , I've already been harassing my lfs to stock them ;)

I have the cutest glass rectangle 2.5's that I bought at petsmart, they come with a glass lid and they're only 9.99 (go see my pics for a better idea of what they look like :p ;) ) so with one of those and an azoo filter you could set up a sweeeeet betta home for around 20 bucks ,no light though, but you could always use a desk lamp

i was looking at these azoo at the lfs, they sell them next to the bettas. looks like enough room and all, and its sold as a set with the filter and light, but not lid. i was wondering the same as you, how do you prevent them from jumping out??? i get nervous when i take the hoods off my one gallons to clean. i'd be interested in knowing too if anyone else uses these for bettas and what you do for a lid..........

*bump* Ne1 else? wuvmybetta- let me know when you get it :) I saw one for sale on ebay and ALMOST got it, but I decided I really like the looks of the entire tank so I'll just pick up the whole thing if I end up getting one. I decided I'll just put some plastic wrap over part of it if needed to prevent jumping - but hopefully I'll end up with a relaxed betta who doesn't want to escape his pretty home. :p I may end up with something completely different than an azoo when I go to the petstore, but we'll see.... I just really want another betta... can't ever have too many.

it's not that they're trying to escape, it's usually excitement that causes them to jump, such as seeing you and getting excited but the thing that makes a betta jump the most....a fly or moth or something flying around their tank  ,that's how they catch food in the wild and they're quite good at it ;) .Just about ALL of my betta jump up to try and get their food so watch out :p , and I've had several CATCH the fly that was bugging them :D ;)

That is SO awesome that they actually catch the bug!! Wow, that amazes me. That would take quite a bit of accurate timing - I know I couldn't do it! I'll keep an eye out while feeding him then, no jumping out of house for me! I'm so excited now, I really want to get another one. Now I just have to convince mom... again :D.

And this reminds me... sorta off subject, but then again - my dwarf gourami once shot water out of the tank to catch a bug, I almost fainted right there. I did a little research and I guess they're sort of like bettas in that way, they can shoot streams to catch prey - nature is awesome!

sheeesh, I hate my memory, I can't remember the name of this fish but I saw them on Animal Planet, Most Extreme~ the hunters episode. It came from rice fields just like bettas and somewhat resembled a betta but kinda ugly with short fins, but it did the water shooting thing  , I was SOOOO impressed & I want one  ,might be tricky to feed the little guy though, walkin' away from the tank soaked  .
Yeah it's cool that they catch flies but gross at the same time, 1st of all because I'm a germ freak :*) , and 2nd they only eat the juicy bottoms and leave the upper torso for me to find in the morning  , you'd think they were starving or something  , guess they just can't resist the "real deal" when it creeps into thier territory :p .
