Has anyone ever used Wonder Shells - if so - were they effective?
see link - http/www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Has anyone ever used Wonder Shells - if so - were they effective?
Sorry about the inaccurate link. The reason I was considering them is that I have a 55gal tank with 4 goldfish that I have had for about 9 years. A couple of weeks ago my fish started dying. I tried water changes and cleaning gravel - which I've always done on a weekly basis, but the nitrates won't come down. The Ph was off the charts acidic. I took the aquarium down and cleaned it - there aren't any ammonia or nitrites - but nitrates are at 55 - 65ppm. I feed twice daily - alternating english peas, spinach, pellets, and spirulina algae. I have two hang on the back power filters with sponges and charcoal that I clean in aquar water bi-weekly. Any suggestions? I don't have any live plants due to the fear of them rotting or dying and causing more nitrates. I tried one a few years ago and my goldfish ate them.Innacurate link. This is the direct one: http/www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Me...onderShell.html
If it sounds to good to be true it probably is, their chemistry is patchy and in some statements flat out wrong that is ofcourse unless the wonder of the shell is that it defys the laws of nature as we know them. Advertisement bull mostly, notice that none of their happy customers have put their names to their comments... In its favour it does contain several broad specturm medicines but you can buy those seperately.
