Hoplias malabaricus, the closest thing to satan in the form of a fish. Grows to close on 2 feet and will destroy any living animal that enters its tank, including your hands if your not carefull.

I had a 12" Wolf Fish, it had beautiful colours, absolutely georgous fish but my life, you went anywhere near the tank with your fingers and you were risking your limbs. When ever I had to vacuum the sand with the hose it would try attacking the hose, it would grab it in its mouth like a dog with your leg lol

Very scary.

unfortunately it died when it was attacked by my 13" Tilapia which I was told would be fine with it.

The Tilapia was sent back to shop and the LFS was made to pay severly for the death of my wolf fish :(

They are pretty aggressive, but there are worse things out there (like Rhobeus sp.), though you shouldn't keep much else with them, though they do usually like to have another wolffish around. They do have less aggressive close relatives (i.e. Erythinus sp.), which can do great with anything that's large enough to not be eaten. If you want to get a wolffish, I'd reccomend a rainbow or red hi-fin.

I had one a number of years ago, It was like keeping a pig with huge sharp teeth. Filthy eater, tons of waste, aggressive as all hell.

But I loved it :)

I remember seeing them fairly often in stores around town here, but in the past few years I havent seen any at all. The store I frequent only brings them in if ordered, and wont if offered otherwise by the distributor.
