Will that just go on the substrate or did you plan on burying?

it should work OK... I put a lot of my rizome plants in resin hollow logs stuffed into the holes... I often cut a short piece of solid lead free solder, and wrap it around the rizome, to help them stay in place, if there are bigger fish involved...
