Hi,

I'm interested in setting up a brackish tank.

I just wanted to know if Figure 8 Puffers, Bumble Bee Gobies and Brackish Flounders are compatible with one another. I've heard Fig 8s and BBGs are 'compatible', but I know very little about Flounders in general (and want to get some experience). From what I've read they can be hard to keep.

If they are compatible, what SG would be healthy for them... 1.005?

Lastly, what kind of (sand) substrate would you recommend?

Thanks for your help.

im using pea gravel of 1mm in my brackish tank with 2 Fig8's and currently 4 bumblebee gobies. (although i plan to get another 4 possibly)

I would get Aragonite sand to help buffer the water. I use eco-complete cichlid sand (black/white mix) in my brackish tank. If you're going to keep a freshwater sole, I think they do need sand for it to burrow in.

I've had no problems keeping BBGs with my F8s, but their is a chance you'll end up with an aggressive puffer who will kill all the gobies. IMO the biggest problem with the sole is making sure he gets enough to eat. Might want to spot feed him with a turkey baster, or at least watch really closely to make sure he's eating.

1.005 is perfect.
